The Nigerian Universities Engineering Students Association (NUESA), Nile University of Nigeria chapter held its inaugural event on Wednesday 22nd of November, 2017. The event was attended by students from the various levels of the different Engineering departments. The major attraction of the event was a lecture titled “Success and Teamwork in Engineering” delivered by Dr. Mambo, HOD of Civil Engineering and Sponsor of the university’s NUESA Chapter.

The event kicked off with a presentation of the NUESA EXCO members to the members of the association. This was followed by a welcome address which was given by the University’s president, Zakariyah Bako, 400 Level Petroleum and Gas Engineering. In his address, the president gave a brief speech about the history of NUESA and also enlightened the students on the importance and benefits of being members of NUESA.

The next item on the agenda was the main lecture given by Dr. Mambo. He lectured the students on the importance of a cohesive unit in a team. He stated that teamwork is a major necessity in the field of engineering especially in the area of problem-solving. He also reminded the students of the diversity that exists in Engineering and the need to work together to accomplish set goals and objectives.

After the lecture, the NUESA Vice President, Ibrahim Abubakar, 400 Level Computer Engineering, gave the vote of thanks and appreciated the input of all parties involved and the parts they played in making the event a success. The event was concluded with a round of refreshments to all those present.

PS: The Nigerian Universities Engineering Students Association (NUESA), Nile University Chapter was founded in May, 2017. It is one of the newer associations in the University and it hopes to become one of the leading associations in the school. The inaugural lecture is a statement of intent and a step in the right direction. Hopefully, it will be followed by other activities that will ensure NUESA is a force to be reckoned with.
