Nile University, Abuja, hosted the second quarter Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme meeting on June 21, 2017. The event, which was chaired by Professor Isaac Butswat (SIWES Director, NOUN University), and also had in attendance Usman M. Sani Y/Daji (Abuja Area Manager, Industrial Training Fund), touched on several issues ranging from the importance of the scheme to some of the challenges facing it.
Prior to the meeting’s commencement, the entire SIWES team paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Vice Chancellor of Nile University, Prof. Dr. Huseyin Sert. During discussions with the VC, Prof. Butswat commended the institution for, amongst other things, its wonderful infrastructure and scholarship program (of which over 17 percent of students are beneficiaries).
Back at the meeting, discussions centered around the need to improve the SIWES departments of participating institutions to ensure that students got the best out of the programme. University representatives present then proceeded to give a report on the activities of their respective schools’ SIWES departments.
The event ended with a school tour for the ITF/SIWES team.
