The Faculty of Engineering will be conducting the Student Work Experience Program (SWEP); in accordance with the National Universities Commission (NUC) requirement for Engineering Undergraduate students in Nigerian Universities. It is therefore mandatory to all the students involved.

The programme is to provide the participating Engineering students the practical skills of general workshop and safety practices in the use of tools and equipments, as they are obtainable in the real world of engineering practices.

It is design in two modules namely; SWEP I & SWEP II – each module having one credit unit, is to run for 4 weeks. The activities that will be carried out include: Orientation lectures, familiarization tour to activity areas, Bench work, Machining, Metal joining, Electrical/Electronic circuits construction and manufacturing. Others are Air conditioner and Refrigeration works, Water works, Building works, Wood works,Plant maintenance, Motor Vehicle maintenance, etc.

Participants are to acquire their safety kits: basically comprising of overall, safety boots, helmet, hand-gloves,Transparent & dark goggles, etc. Accommodation and feeding will be provided by the school; as participants shall be expected to camp in the school hostels.

Students should note that absenteeism, lack of participation in activities, etc. will lead to failure and subsequently carrying over the course. It is mandatory that all participants attained the Orientation lectures; to have the necessary rules and guidelines for the programme.

For the 2017/2018 200 and 300 levels engineering students, SWEP shall be conducted as follows:

FIRST GROUP (SWEP I) 200 LEVEL – 2ND– 27THJULY, 2018

SECOND GROUP (SWEP II) 300 LEVEL– 2ND – 27THJULY, 2018
