Umar Ibrahim, a 100 level Political Science and International Relations student of Nile University emerged champion in the male table tennis category of the recently concluded qualifiers for the World University Games in Napoli, Italy. The four-day trials (from March 24 to 28, 2019) held at the Obafemi Awolowo University was designed to select the best student athletes, at the university level, in Nigeria to represent the country’s tertiary institutions at the Games. As the winner of his category at the qualifiers, Umar, along with the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th placed athletes in this category will represent Nigerian Universities in table tennis at the Napoli Games, billed to commence on July 3, 2019.
