On Wednesday, October 9, the American Center team visited the Faculty of Law, Nile University of Nigeria for a Workshop on Countering Misinformation through Advance Internet Searching Techniques. Embassy Cultural Affairs Officer –American Spaces/EducationUSA, Malia Heroux, who led the team, gave the opening remarks and introduced America Spaces resources and EducationUSA services to the over hundred students and faculty members present. Following the introduction, the American Center Director, Sagir Ahmed, made a presentation titled “Researching Your Topic Online.” Mr. Ahmed provided insights on various online tools and tricks to avoid misinformation through advanced internet searching techniques. Subsequently, Ms. Heroux, engaged the audience in an interactive discussion on the benefits of studying in the United States, student visa processes for those wishing to further their education in the US. Ms. Heroux also led the team for a courtesy visit to the Dean, Faculty of Law, Professor Abdullahi Zuru. The Dean expressed his appreciation to the American Center team for the wonderful opportunity granted to the faculty’s students to learn about best practices in research as well as the US Embassy’s efforts to promote the exchange of knowledge and innovation, while strengthening cooperation with the University.
