The Nigerian Universities Engineering Students Association, Nile Chapter, held a lecture, themed The Engineer and the Industry, to educate students on the importance of getting practical experience, in addition to classroom teachings.Staff present at the event included Engr. Dr Mambo Abdulhameed, Dr PetrusNzerem, Dr.OnyebuchiMogbo, Mr. Joseph Choir, Mr Tahir, and the guest speaker, Engr. Baba Mai Wudiri.
Dr Mambo Abdulhameed gave the welcome address during which he stressed the importance of the event’s theme.
Engr. Baba Mai Wudiri, the guest speaker, started the interactive session by asking students about theoretical principles. He further asked how the principles were applied in real life. He then made his point by taking students through various applications of those principles in the industry. Some areas he covered were in civil engineering (cavitation and water hammer), mechanical engineering (engine optimization), electrical engineering (AC circuits), petroleum and gas engineering (hydrostatic pressure), computer engineering (robotics).
He concluded by encouraging students to not only learn the principles taught in the classroom but to also engage in its practical applications so as to develop the societies, and nation as a whole, through innovation.
The event came to an end as the chapter president gave the vote of thanks and encouraged students to attend more of similar events in the future.
