Philosophy

The advanced one-year program, aimed at building depth understanding in the study of political science and related fields. It combines a blend of relevant intermediate courses to help bridge the gap and prepare successful student for placement into Doctorate program in Political Science and related fields.

 

Objectives

To bridge the gap in knowledge and prepare graduands with the requisite tools to succeed as Doctorate Candidates in Political Science. To further depth understand of Political Science and augment understanding of prospective students in preparation for placement into doctorate programs.

The course is designed to upgrade students to the methods and theories of political enquiry to accommodate intellectual development of postgraduate students.

MPhil Political Science - FAQs

  1. Candidates with recognized master’s degree in the relevant discipline may be admitted to the M.Phil. program as appropriate, on the recommendation of the appropriate Faculty Postgraduate Committee.
  2. Candidates with recognized bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Degree.
  3. Candidates must submit O’Level min. 5 Credits including Mathematics and English.

Upon successful completion of programme, graduands would have acquired the qualification, Academia, Current Affairs Analyst, Political Strategist and most importantly pursue a Doctorate programme in Political Science.

Teaching is carried out through a combination of interactive lectures supported by seminars, workshops, tutorials, case studies and informal one-to-one discussion. They encourage the development of clear analytical skills and create a forum where you can test your ideas against the arguments of your peers.
