Nile University hosted the National Campus Blockchain Hackathon on September 25 and 26, 2019. The hackathon was organized by the Block Chain Industry Association of Nigeria (BIAN) in collaboration with NITDA. The event was aimed at encouraging young minds to solve practical problems through blockchain, bridging the gap between academia and the industry, and providing Nigerian University students early exposure to career opportunities in Blockchain and distributed ledger technologies.

The program featured insightful presentations from several industry experts and accomplished academicians, a panel session during which critical issues pertaining to the country’s technology and education industries were discussed, and the hackathon grand finale in which Covenant University emerged champions.

Notable individuals who were present at the event include Mr. Kashifu Abdullahi (Director General, NITDA), Mr. Adeolu Fadele (President, BIAN), Dr. Petrus Nzerem (HOD, Petroleum & Gas Engineering, Nile University), Mr. Kayode Babarinde (National Coordinator, CBDP), to name a few.
