On December 13, 2017, NileUniversity hosted theDeputy Swedish ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Robert Keller, who delivered a lecture titled “Sweden Economy Today, Challenges and Facts.” During the lecture, Dr. Keller gave a brief economic history of Sweden—industrialization in 1940, tax hike in 1970, etc—highlighting how far they have come as a nation.
He also touched on the relationship between Sweden and Nigeria in areas such as education and the economy. On education, the Honourable Deputy Ambassador emphasized the wonderful scholarship opportunities available to Nigerian (and other international) students in Sweden. With regard to boosting economic relations with Nigeria, he highlighted Sweden’s plans to increase her investments in Nigeria and strengthen international trade between both countries.
The event ended with a question and answer session during which the Deputy Ambassador fielded questions from the audience.
